By completing this application form you are also confirming you are personally of sound mind, medically fit and sufficiently able bodied to engage in sailing activities. Please note that declared illnesses or medical conditions may not prevent you from joining SOYC as we promote equal opportunities; but the Membership Director must be made aware, by an attached letter, of any potential problems that could affect your safety and that of other crew members. If you are in any doubt about your fitness to take part in offshore sailing you should consult your general practitioner prior to applying for membership.

Declaration

I wish to apply for membership to the Speedbird Offshore Yacht Club. I agree to comply with the Club rules (Sailing Orders) and will make myself familiar with them before sailing on a Club boat. I agree that the information on this form can be retained by the Club in electronic format, and used so that the Club can provide the best possible level of services to myself.

Data Consent Declarations

Speedbird Offshore Yacht Club Ltd stores personal data about members for the purpose of our legitimate interest operating the Club and to protect Members’ vital interests and those of their dependants. Such details include name, address, membership details and fee payments. Next of Kin details are also required and may be given to the authorities in the event of an incident.

Members have access to the Club’s online booking system which is password protected. On it we display Member’s phone and email contact details, sailing qualifications and sailing history with the Club. Other personal details can be input and changed directly by you as a Member.

The Club will delete your personal data when it is no longer needed if you leave the Club. You have a right to “be forgotten” upon request.

I consent to my data being stored and used as described above.I consent to any age-related information provided by me on this form being recorded and used for the purpose of allocation of Membership category and, where appropriate, applying the Club’s Child Protection Policy.I understand that the Club may send newsletters, sailing and training opportunities and other information we think may be of interest to you by email. Access to the Booking System will be given to you when your membership is complete. You can change whether you receive these emails at any time by updating your booking-system details.
