Come sailing with us

Whether you’re taking your first steps into sailing or already have years of experience, joining Speedbird Offshore Yacht Club is a great way to spend more time on the water. As a member, you’ll have opportunities to sail aboard our club yachts, develop your skills through training, take part in cruising and offshore adventures, and sail alongside people who share your enthusiasm for the sea. You don’t need to own a boat — just bring your sense of adventure and a willingness to get involved.

Speedbird members sailing together on the Solent

We own and operate two offshore yachts, which sail throughout the year across the Solent and beyond. Our members do not need to organise their own crew or find a skipper. They can simply sign up for a trip and join us on the water. Our sailing programme includes relaxed day trips, structured training, competitive racing and longer offshore passages.

Why join?

Membership gives you year-round access to two well-maintained yachts, a full programme of sailing trips, and a community of over 300 members. Sailing is available 365 days a year therefore membership starts on the month of application and lasts for 12 months. Here's what it costs.

How joining works

Becoming a member is straightforward:

Sign into our booking system, browse available trips, pick a date, and you'll soon be on the water. You don't need to find a skipper, organise a crew, or own any specialist kit. Just book a place on a trip and turn up. Our skippers will brief you on everything before you leave the pontoon.

  • Fill in the membership application form.
  • We’ll set up your account and send you login details for our online booking system
  • Once you've been a member for two days you can book your first sail.

If you're curious about sailing but not ready to commit, we hold Potential New Member days throughout the year and you're welcome to come along. You'll spend a full day on the water with one of our qualified skippers and a friendly crew. No sailing knowledge required - just turn up. It's the best way to see if SOYC is for you.
